StreamShield Server
StreamShield Server is used to configure and monitor both the services provided by the solution, and the subscribers that will benefit from these services. It provides the following functions:
- The ability for the service provider to directly manage the StreamShield CSGs deployed in their network.
- A link into the existing service provider subscriber management and OSS systems.
- The ability for the service provider to create own-branded web portals so their customer can manage their own content security configurations, and collect statistics about their own content security service.
- Reception of content security threat updates from StreamShield.Net and automatic forwarding of these updates to the CSGs.
ShieldView
StreamShield Server provides a web interface called ShieldView that enables the service provider to configure and manage up to 100 CSGs, and the content security services they are providing.
SOAP/XML API
StreamShield Server also supports a SOAP/XML Application Programming Interface (API) that allows the service provider to integrate the management functions of the StreamShield content security solution into their existing Operational Support Systems (OSS). In addition, the service provider can use the SOAP/XML API to allow end users to configure, and view statistics for their own content security services - typically via a web portal.
StreamShield Report Server
StreamShield Report Server is an optional data collection component within the StreamShield content security solution.
While StreamShield Server itself can normally provide sufficient data collection capacity for most service providers, in some cases it may be necessary to provide a dedicated data collection engine. StreamShield Report Server may be deployed in a "1 for N" relationship with the CSG, or for very heavy data collection in a "1 for 1" relationship. Data transfer between the CSG and StreamShield Report Server is implemented using standard next generation system logging (syslog-ng).
The data collected by multiple StreamShield Report Servers within the same service provider can be aggregated and analysed using StreamShield Server. In addition, the data format used by StreamShield Report Server is fully documented so that service providers may use third party, or in-house data analysis tools.
Deployment Options
StreamShield Server and StreamShield Report Server are delivered as software packages that can be installed on any suitable Linux PC platform. Specifications for this platform are included on the StreamShield Server data sheet.
At least one StreamShield Server is required for a given installation of the StreamShield content security solution. The StreamShield Server is located within the service provider management network, and communicates with the CSGs in this network via their Ethernet management interfaces. StreamShield Server may be deployed in redundant configurations, if required.
